The southbound 405 Freeway will be closed at midnight Monday for five hours of construction work on the Skirball Center Drive bridge.
According to Metro, the freeway will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. Some freeway lanes could begin closing as early as 10 p.m.
Monday's work will only affect the southbound freeway.
Look for southbound I-405 Freeway access to be closed starting at Burbank Boulevard and ending at Getty Center Drive between the hours of midnight Monday, June 6, 2011, until 5:00 a.m. Tuesay, June 7, 2011. Additionally, the Skirball Bridge spanning the I-405 Freeway will be closed Monday, June 6, 2011, from 10:00 p.m., until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011.
Sepulveda Boulevard will remain open and will be used as a detour route.
The closure is part of the same long-term construction project that will force a 53-hour closure of the entire freeway on July 16-17.
"This is manageable as long as the public cooperates,'' said Metro spokesman Marc Littman. "They've got a lot of summer plans and we don't want them surprised.''
The project means hundreds of thousands of motorists will have to be detoured or convinced not to travel on the 405.
