A Los Angeles County snowboarder is recovering from exposure and frostbite after being stranded overnight on Mount Baldy.
Timothy Triche was located Thursday at the 10,000-foot level of the mountain. He had called 911 Wednesday at about 5 p.m. after being caught in whiteout conditions. After telling the operator he was near a sign that read Devil's Backbone and was told to stay there until rescuers arrived.
Snow and high winds prevented rescuers from reaching Triche until Thursday. He was airlifted from the mountain and taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
A grateful Triche told rescuers he had "underestimated the mountain."
