Police are investigating a string of window vandalism cases in Ventura, officials said.

The Ventura Police Department has responded to eight window smash vandalisms throughout the midtown, downtown and Ventura Avenue areas of the city in the last 24 hours, VPD said.

On Friday, Ventura Police responded to six calls between the hours of 2:22 a.m. and 7:50 a.m., police said.

It is unknown how the windows are being smashed, and does not appear that any items are being taken from the locations after the incidents, police said.

Police say steel ball bearings have been found at some of the locations and that suspects may be shooting ball bearings by unknown means to break the windows.

It is unknown whether police have any suspects in the case.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the Ventura Police Department Watch Commander at 339-4416.
