Student's Prom Night Ends in Serious Accident

Four teens returning from a high school prom were hospitalized after allegedly crashing during a street race in Garden Grove Sunday, according to police officials.

The accident occurred about 12:25 a.m. at West Street and Reva Lane, said Garden Grove Lt. Jeff Nightengale.

During the street race, the 18-year-old male driver of the silver BMW swerved to avoid another vehicle and struck a parked car and a light standard, said Nightengale.

The four students from Marina High School in Huntington Beach were returning from their prom at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.

The teens were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, said Nightengale. Their current conditions were unknown.

The driver of the other racing vehicle stopped at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.

No arrests were immediately made.
