Huntington State Beach is the site for the 2010 U.S. Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships

Thursday through Saturday, more than 1,000 lifeguards from across the country will compete at Huntington State Beach in the annual U.S. Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships for men and women.

It's free to view the competition.  Find event details on the U.S. Lifesaving Association website.  Look at the left hand column and click on "Adult" and "Junion" for the competition schedule.

Professional Lifeguards ranging in age from 16 to 75 years-old and Junior Lifeguards ages 9-17 will compete in events designed to challenge their lifesaving skills.

Events include surf swims to beach runs, paddleboard and surf boat races, as well as the Ironman and Ironwoman competitions.

The events will crown the nation’s top male and female lifeguards. The three-day competition will be hosted this year by the Huntington State Beach Lifeguard Association.
