Suspect Charged in Sexual Assault of 88-Year-Old Woman in Harbor Gateway

A suspect accused in the sexual assault of an 88-year-old woman in Harbor Gateway was charged Wednesday with multiple felonies.

Emmanuel Stanley Reales, 40, was charged with forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and first-degree residential burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Reales, a probationer with a criminal history that includes sexual battery, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of narcotics, was tied to the June 6 assault near Sepulveda Boulevard and Western Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators said Reales broke into the home about 2:30 a.m. and attacked the woman, who managed to break free and run to a neighbor's house for help.

"Reales previously lived in the victim's neighborhood and was familiar with the victim's circumstances," police said.

He faces 112 years to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.
