Suspect in Anaheim Gas Co. Murders Shoots Self

Police say a suspect in the separate shooting deaths of two gas company workers this week shot and wounded himself as he sat in his sport utility vehicle outside the Anaheim police station.

Police Sgt. Rick Martinez says the man -- 36-year-old Phong Thuc Tran -- was found with a head wound by a patrol officer Thursday morning who recognized the SUV from an arrest warrant for Tran.

Martinez says Tran was shot with beanbag rounds, pulled from the car and taken to a hospital in critical condition. He says two handguns were recovered from the vehicle.

One worker was found dead Tuesday in his car outside the Anaheim office of Southern California Gas Co. Another was gunned down in his driveway Wednesday in Pomona.
