Suspect in Ontario Body Parts Case Charged with Murder

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed a murder charge against a 51-year-old woman in connection with the discovery of body parts found at an Ontario home.

Carmen Montenegro was arrested Sunday and remains in custody at the Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, according to police.

Police were called to the house on Holmes Avenue near H Street at 2:35 p.m. on Sunday when a witness spotted a woman pushing a trash can with what appeared to be a human body.

"I personally didn't see it. I just know that it is something you would not normally see in the middle of the daytime," Crittenden said.

Detectives are also looking into the recent disappearance of Montenegro’s past boyfriend who was last seen by relatives on May 01, 2011, according to police. He was reported as a missing person to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Montenegro was staying with relatives at the home, police said Monday. Home video, taken by neighbor James Barthlow, showed at least two people taken into custody by police.

The San Bernardino coroner was at the home Monday morning. It is unclear whether the remains are from more than one person.
