Suspect in Shooting of 10-Year-Old Boy in Pomona in Custody

Police Friday announced the arrest of a man suspected in the shooting of a 10-year-old boy in Pomona last fall.

The boy was wounded about 4 p.m. last Oct. 21 in the 1100 Block of Cornelia Street while sitting in his family's vehicle, the Pomona Police Department reported.

He was treated at a hospital and has made a full recovery, according to police.

Following the shooting, Jaivon Bonner, 29, of Pomona was named in an arrest warrant as an alleged "active participant" in the shooting, and attempted murder charges were filed against him.

On Friday, detectives learned that Bonner had been arrested by the Ontario Police Department for unrelated crimes, Pomona police said.

"During his arrest he was found to be in possession of a firearm," according to a Pomona police statement. "He now faces criminal charges in San Bernardino County. Eventually, (he) will be brought back to Los Angeles County to face attempted murder charges."
