Suspected Gunman Remains at Large in Winnetka Double Slaying

A suspected killer remained at large Monday, accused in the shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend and another man at a Winnetka apartment.

A fit of rage was how neighbors described what LAPD investigators said appears to be a domestic dispute that left the man and a woman dead Sunday afternoon.

"As I walked into the kitchen I heard screaming in hallway,” said neighbor Lisa Lyons.

Lyons said the slain woman, identified as 22-year-old Emily Ana Fox, had only lived in the building in the 7600 block of Oso Avenue for a few months.

"Then I opened the door and looked down the hallway. I didn't see my neighbor but saw the tail end of someone running toward the elevator," Lyons said.

Lyons said Fox was a student at Cal State Northridge.

"Emily, the girl in the apartment, had called the police and were already on their way when the shooting happened," Lyons said.

That’s how LAPD got information on the suspected gunman, Brian Anthony Gonzalez, based on the 911 call from the victim. Police say he’s her ex-boyfriend, but by Monday night they had not yet located him.

"The next thing we heard was like eight shots in rapid succession,” Lyons said. “It was just an echo, then you smelled the sulfur from the bullets and it was scary."

The other victim was identified as 24-year-old Jerrad Cardae Scott from La Mesa, in the San Diego area.

Family and friends said he was a father to a young boy and a high school football star.

Scott’s mother shared photos of him Monday, and said she’s praying that police find the man who is accused of killing her son.
