Suspected Serial Armed Robber Arrested in Riverside

Officials say the man's alleged string of robberies began last month

A suspected serial robber has been arrested in Riverside, officials said Saturday.

Investigators on Friday arrested Thomas K. McGowan, 31, at his home in connection with a string of armed robberies in the area, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

McGowan’s alleged robbery streak began Oct. 21 with the hold-up of a Yum Yum Donuts near the 8900 Block of Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley, Sgt. Samuel Flores said.

McGowan allegedly robbed two Shell gas stations and a bakery two weeks later, Flores said.

His most recent alleged transgression, the robbery of a Circle K in Riverside, gave detectives enough information to tie McGowan to the crimes.

McGowan was booked for suspicion of five counts of second-degree robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and other crimes.

Officials did not give detairegarding why he was charged with kidnapping were not clear.
