Teacher Re-Arrested in Molestation Case

Police say Gay Shepard sent repeated text messages to a former student of her husband, Daniel Shepard. The two were accused last spring of repeated sexual encounters with a student who was then 17.

A retired Huntington Beach middle school teacher accused last spring of molesting a teen-age boy was re-arrested this week.

Police said Gay Davidson-Shepard, who along with her husband was alleged to have engaged in a sexual relationship with a 17-year old, had violated a restraining order by sending the boy repeated text messages in recent days.

“Mrs. Shepard text messaged him and called him many times over the last several weeks,” said Alan Aoki, a detective with the Westminster Police Department.

Shepard and her husband Daniel were initially arrested last spring. Prosecutors have charged them with three felony charges in relation to the case, said Susan Kang-Schroeder, chief of staff for Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas.

The victim, police said, attended Westminster High School and was a student in Daniel Shepard’s science class. There may have been a dozen encounters over a year and a half, police and prosecutors said.
