Teenager Killed By Stray Bullet While at Home in Pasadena

Police say the 13-year-old boy was sitting in his room when the stray bullet went through the window and killed him, in an apparently random shooting. Lauren Coronado reports for Today in LA on Nov. 21, 2021.

A 13-year-old boy died after being hit by a stray bullet while in his bedroom in Pasadena Saturday night, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.

Police are investigating the incident and believe the shooting to have been random. 

The shooting happened around 6pm at a residence on Raymond Avenue near Mountain right by the Jackie Robinson Recreation Center, police said.

The stray bullet came through the teenager's window, striking him as he was playing video games, police said.

He was rushed to the hospital but later died.

Part of Raymond Avenue was closed for some time Saturday night as police combed through the home and neighborhood, trying to figure out who did this and why.

Detectives are also searching for clues as to who or what the intended target was. As of Sunday morning, the shooting appears to be totally random.

Police are still looking for the gunman.

No further details were immediately available.

Three candles were lit in the teenage boy's memory, outside his home, alongside messages from others in support of the family.
