Two teens - ages 19 and 16 - were taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a four-hour standoff with police.
Sheriff deputies say it started with an altercation outside County-USC Hospital around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday. It later moved to an apartment complex a few blocks away where deputies say they came under fire as the suspects threw rocks and bottles.
LAPD officers were called in for back-up.
Eventually, SWAT officers and the bomb squad joined in for what ended up as a massive police presence. The Marengo Inn was evacuated as it sits just beyond the apartment complex.
For hours, police attempted to talk to the suspects inside, learning twin 11-year-old girls and a 5-year-old girl were inside the apartment as well. By 4 a.m., the two suspects had turned themselves over and were taken into custody. Police say the little girls were not hurt.
The investigation into what started all this continues and it's possible more arrests may come.
