Boys Use Skateboards to Beat Man: Police

The attack broke out on Friday night in Mundy Park

Four young skateboarders were arrested on attempted murder charges after they allegedly attacked and nearly beat to death a man with their skateboards in Huntington Beach.

The attack apparently began with a fight that broke out between two groups of skateboarders in Mundy Park, 7000 Norma Drive, about 7:50 p.m. Friday night, police said.

A woman tried to break up the fight and the boys began to beat her, and when the woman's boyfriend intervened, and the juveniles chased him to a nearby coin-operated laundry where they allegedly beat him with their skateboards, Huntington Beach police Lt. Chad Nichols told the Orange County Register.

When police arrived the boys scattered, but authorities captured seven boys they suspect were involved in the crime. Police eventually booked four of the seven youths on attempted murder charges.

The injured man was taken to UCI Medical Center where he remained in critical condition, Nichols said. The four arrested minors were taken to Orange County Juvenile Hall.

All seven of the detainees were on probation for previous crimes, according to police.
