Classes remained in session at Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore Monday even as police investigated threats made against the campus on social media.

Mark Dennis, spokesman for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, said there were reports and rumors regarding the security of the campus, but that students were expected to have a normal school day.

The campus will remain on a heightened security level while the Lake Elsinore Police Department and school officials investigate the reported threats.

Lake Elsinore police received information Saturday afternoon that a student who attends the school was overheard telling a third student there was going to be a shooting on campus.

Officials said in a statement that the source of the information and the person who allegedly made the threat were both located.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lead Investigator Tony Pelato at 9510245-3300.
