Finding Perfect Swimwear for Your Shape

Warming weather means the search is on for the perfect swimsuit

It’s that time again, ladies. Warm weather means, among other things, swimsuit season.

Searching for the perfect swimsuit for your body can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to, said Los Angeles Magazine senior editor Linda Immediato.

It’s all about working what you’ve got, Immediato said.

“Going half-naked requires some confidence,” she said. “It’s about finding a suit that fits your body, instead of trying to make your body fit into another suit.”

If your stomach is a problem area, go high to cover it up.

A high-waisted swimsuit “will push it all in,” Immediato said. “You’ve got some nice ruching on the sides to give it some detail. It actually accentuates lines . . . to make [you] look even slimmer with the tummy control.”

For the small-busted woman, there are fringe benefits.

“A ruffle really adds volume to the chest,” Immediato said. “You can use fringe and there’s other kinds of ruffling that will add volume for a small-breasted woman.”

If you want to take the attention of your backside, Immediato said to chose solid colors and avoid prints on the bottom.

Overall, the trend in swimsuits is about metallic patterns, prints, going retro and feeling comfortable in the body you have.
