It's that dreaded date -- April 15. Tax Day. But it's a good day if you're looking for something for nothing.
There are a few places you can go today to help keep your bottom line level, even if you owe the IRS.
Start your day with free coffee. Starbucks will fill your personal mug for free. It's their way of bringing attention to the environmental impact of paper cups. They company is asking everyone to take a pledge to make the switch to reusable mugs as a way to be more responsible about the environment. But it doesn't hurt that they chose this date for the freebies.
After you get your free coffee, head over to Cinnabon, where you can snack on a couple of cupcakes for free as part of their Tax Day Bites offer. They want to make today "less taxing" so they're giving away two little sweet treats to everyone until 8 p.m.
IHOP is also giving out free meals for your tax write off. Kids eat free today as part of their "Just For Kids" offer. The deal is going on all month but we think it's especially useful today.
By lunchtime, if you're still scramblinbg to get that tax form into the mail, you'll no doubt be ready for another free meal. Boston Market's got you covered. They're giving away a meal with each one purchased. Just print out their coupon for a buy one get one free plate plate.
Dinner presents another tummy-growling dilemma and another business offering to relieve tax day worries. Seafood restaurant McCormick & Schmick's is offering a dinner and drink special for a special price and a nod to that usually unhappy combination of digits: $10.40. You can also collect a coupon for $10.40 for your next visit to the restaurant. They don't stop with the taxpayer. Tomorrow is Tax Preparer Appreciation Day at the restaurant. They're giving away dessert to tax preparers who show their business card and buy a meal with the $10.40 coupon.
