Three Dead, Three Hurt After Jeep “Runs Red Light” in Lancaster

5 people were travelling in the Jeep and four were ejected because they were not wearing seatbelts, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Three people died and three others were injured when a Jeep Cherokee crashed after allegedly running a red light at more than 80 mph in Lancaster on Friday.

A male adult, female adult and teenage boy were killed, and another person in the vehicle was left in a critical condition after the smash at at 25th and Avenue K just before 6 p.m.

The vehicle collided with a Dodge Ram which had been turning left.  5 people were travelling in the Jeep and four were ejected because they were not wearing seatbelts, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Locals said accidents regularly occur there due to people going much faster than the posted 50 mph limit.

Resident Debbie Calvert consoled a neighbor who saw the crash, and who ended up with human remains landing in her yard.

"The Jeep Cherokee, travelling at a high rate of speed, running a red light. Unfortunately the majority of the people in the Jeep Cherokee have perished. How many more people have to die before the speed limit is lowered?"  Calvert said.

Jason Larimore rushed home from a basketball game after his wife called him to tell him about the accident.
