Three Killed in Marina del Rey Crash Identified

The victims in a horrific crash where a car flipped on a Marina del Rey street were identified Tuesday by the LA County Coroner.

All of the victims killed were under 20 years old, and a fourth victim remained in the hospital.
Dimnike Clemmons, 19, Anthony Sage Jr., 18, and Lavell Boyston Jr., 18, were killed when the Honda Accord they were riding in hit a curb, flipped and slammed into a tree Monday night.

New information revealed Tuesday that all four people in the car were not wearing seat belts, and speed was a factor, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred in the 170 block of Via Marina Court around 5 p.m.

"It sounded like a small bomb went off," David L'Heureux, who lives near the crash site, said.

Lucila Diaz said she is one of several nannies who looks after children in the neighborhood.

She said she heard a speeding car approaching, and said the people inside the car were arguing.

"I think [it was going] 80 miles per hour," Diaz said.

After the impact, Diaz said she tried to help one of the victims, asking her if she could talk as she leaned down by the car.

"It's really sad, it's terrible, it's a tragedy, you just think ... did it really have to happen?" Tina Madden, who lives nearby, said.
