Tom Bradley Terminal Evacuated

About 500 people were evacuated from the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport Monday while inspectors checked out what turned out to be a harmless, unattended bag.

An "audible alarm on a megaphone" packed in the unattended bag went off about 11 a.m., said Albert Rodriguez of Los Angeles World Airports.

About 500 passengers and airline workers were directed to leave the ticketing/check-in lobby and go to the front of adjacent terminals, Rodriguez said.

Inspectors determined that there was no safety problem, and the evacuation ended in about 50 minutes, Rodriguez said. There was no impact on flight operations and "minimal" impact on traffic on the upper level, he said.
