A trash truck tipped on its side on the 405 near Victory blocking part of the freeway and snarling traffic.
The truck, displaying a Crown Disposal Co. logo, was seen tipped over and laying on the center dividers with moderate damage to the cab.
Several CHP units and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded. Initial reports indicated the truck may have hit a vehicle in the southbound lane.
The Northbound HOV and number 5 lanes as well as the southbound HOV lane were blocked, and the Victory on-ramp was closed while crews worked to clear the accident.
A SIG alert was issued and a tow truck arrived around 10:30 am.
Company officials said they did not know the cause of the accident. Authorities are investigating.
