Survey Finds LA Stylish, Dirty

Los Angeles ranked in the top five for its luxury and home décor and design stores, weather, style and attractive people.

Los Angeles is dirty, loud, mean, good-looking and stylish, according to a survey conducted by Travel & Leisure Magazine.

The 2011 survey was conducted online and ranks each city in various categories such as people, nightlife, culture and shopping.

Los Angeles ranked in the top five for its luxury and home décor and design stores, weather, style and attractive people. The City of Angels ranked poorly in public transportation and pedestrian-friendliness, peace and quiet and cleanliness.

Although the city did not rank first in any of the categories, it also did not rank last.

New York City bested (and worsted?) LA as both the most stylist as well as the dirtiest and loudest city in America.

"This is the awards capital of the state, it's only right that we get recognized," said Carol Martinez, the vice president of media relations and communications for the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau.

However, she added, "we can't win every category.”
