A convicted felon and two other men were charged Monday with murder and additional offenses for allegedly gunning down a former boxer and wounding two boys in an attack in Moreno Valley.

Lee Albert Mooring, 32, Andre Dimitri Richee, 27, both of Moreno Valley, along with 28-year-old Joseph Lewis Goldsmith of Riverside, are accused in the slaying last week of Daniel Gonzalez of Moreno Valley.

In addition to murder, all three defendants are charged with three counts of attempted murder, while Richee is separately charged with shooting at an inhabited structure.

Mooring and Richee are each being held without bail -- Mooring at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, and Richee at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

Goldsmith remains at large. An arrest warrant was issued for him last week.

Mooring and Richee are slated to make a joint initial court appearance Tuesday at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Ben Ramirez, detectives quickly developed leads on the defendants' identities following the shooting on the night of Sept. 7 in the 22900 block of Allies Place, near Courage Street.

Ramirez alleged the assailants arrived in a Chevrolet Cruze and opened fire on Gonzalez and two teenagers, as well as a bystander, killing Gonzalez on the spot.

The two boys suffered non-life-threatening wounds and were treated at nearby Riverside University Medical Center. They are recovering, according to Ramirez.

A possible motive for the attack has not been disclosed.

The defendants fled immediately after the shooting, but investigators collected evidence at the scene and elsewhere in the city that ultimately pointed to them as the perpetrators, Ramirez alleged.

Mooring was located and taken into custody without incident on Sept. 9, and Richee was arrested uneventfully the following day.

Gonzalez was a welterweight who fought in boxing legend Floyd Mayweather's stable. The victim won his professional debut in a four-round unanimous decision on Aug. 27, 2016, and won two fights by decision in 2016 and 2017.

There was no word on why his career had ended.

According to court records, Mooring has prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, gang activity and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Records show Richee has prior misdemeanor convictions for possession of illegal drugs, vandalism and knowingly violating a court protective order.

No information was available concerning Goldsmith.
