Community leaders are set give away more than 10,000 turkeys in Compton Monday morning.
The giveaway was set to kick off at 9 a.m.
In addition to passing out free turkeys, families can obtain health screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, hypertension and more. The event will be held at El Camino College’s Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy located at 901 E. Artesia Blvd. in Compton.
The 10th annual event was to provide turkeys on a "first come, first serve" basis.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, Radio Free KJLH 102.3, Progress California and local Assemblymember Isadore Hall among others hosted the event.
Representatives from Covered California were also scheduled to be available to help residents sign up for low cost health insurance.
The event was to end at 1 p.m.
