Car Hits Twin Girls Near School

A witness saw the vehicle strike the girls on busy Moorpark Street

Twin sisters were struck by a car near Walter Reed Middle School in Studio City, sending them both to the hospital with serious injuries.

"I couldn't believe my eyes," said Walter Reed Middle School student Mark Aminov, who knew the victims. "Wow, did that really just happen, and then I see two kids on the ground. My heart was like, oh, like, I didn't feel good."

Aminov summed up the feelings of many Walter Reed students. It was just after school, and the area was congested with youngsters and their parents.

Police said the two girls were crossing Moorpark on a red light. The driver had the right of way and was not cited. Police say the driver stopped to offer aid.

A school administrator was able to go with the girls in the ambulance to the hospital. Their injuries were not expected to be life threatening.
