Two Injured in Menifee School Bus Crash

Four people were injured Wednesday in a collision between a compact car and a school bus carrying 18 students in Menifee.

The crash happened about 2:25 p.m. at the intersection of Evans Street and Holland Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officer Jose Serrano said details about the head-on wreck were still being sorted, but he confirmed that only one of the students aboard the Perris Union High School District bus was injured.

According to Serrano, a woman in the Sentra suffered major injuries and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment.

"The driver and another passenger sustained moderate injuries and were transported to the same facility," he told City News Service. "There was an occupant of the vehicle who fled the scene before we arrived. We don't know why."

The school bus driver was not hurt. One student complained of feeling unwell after the collision and was taken to the hospital for "precautionary reasons," Serrano said.

No arrests were anticipated, though the investigation was ongoing, the officer said.
