One Shot, One Killed Outside Shopping Center

The shooting was reported at 3:08 p.m. near Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.

A Good Samaritan was killed and another person was injured in a shooting outside a Canyon Country shopping center Monday afternoon.

The shooting was part of an apparent robbery attempt around 3:08 p.m. near Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.

The injured victim arranged to meet four suspects to sell a Nintendo DS Game System, according to sheriff’s detectives. When the suspects attempted to rob the victim, someone believed to be a Good Samaritan, approached the suspects with a baseball bat.

The Good Samaritan was shot in the chest by one of the suspects and went into full arrest when paramedics arrived on scene. The first victim attemted to run away and was shot in the thigh and was said to be in critical condition.

Neither victim has been identified.

Both were rushed to a local trauma center, where the Good Samaritan was pronounced dead.

Police have since taken all four suspects believed to be connected to the shooting into custody, sheriff’s deputy Lillian Peck said.
