2 Wounded in Burbank Shooting

Police were searching for a gunman who shot and wounded a homeowner and a gardener in Burbank on Wednesday morning.

The shooting was reported about 7:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Catalina Street, the Burbank Police Department said. Responding officers found a man on the ground and bleeding in his driveway. A second man nearby was also struck by gunfire.

The two victims, identified as a homeowner and a gardener by officers at the scene, were taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. One of the victims was in surgery with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and was listed in serious condition. The other victim was in good condition and expected to recover.

A motive for the shooting was not known.

Neighbors in the quiet, tree-lined neighborhood said the early morning shooting took them by surprise.

"I was awake but I wasn't out of bed yet. I heard a gunshot and then a few seconds later another gunshot," Sharon Ryun said.

Officers were searching for a silver-colored sedan that fled toward Victory Boulevard. A man with dark hair and who appeared to be in his 20 was behind the wheel.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with medical expenses.

Anyone with information was asked to call police.
