Relax, UC Riverside; Puppies Are on the Way

Dogs rescue students from final exam stress

Students at UC Riverside have a secret weapon to combat the stress of final exams: puppies.

On Wednesday, students took a break from studying to enjoy "wet noses and wagging tails," according to a UC Riverside news release. The program is the work of UC Riverside's mental health outreach team.

"We did this earlier this year and it was highly successful. We had about 350 students stop in to interact with the dogs," said UCR mental health educator Stacey Grady.

The "Therapy Fluffies" -- Grady's moniker for the puppies -- is part of the university's Mental Health Day Spa, which is held the Wednesday of the 10th week of the quarter -- one week before finals, according to the university.
