A forklift hit an overpass bridge on the 14 Freeway, causing damage to that overpass near Mountain Springs Road, between Acton and Palmdale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Footage from NewsChopper4 Alpha showed a small chunk taken out of the side of the bridge, and crumbled concrete on the freeway below.

Crews have been called out to inspect all of the damage and cleanup near the overpass. The extent of the damage is not yet clear.

Traffic was backed up down the southbound 14 Freeway, as drivers were forced to merge over due to lane closures.

A SigAlert was issued about two closed lanes below the overpass bridge. As of 1:45 p.m., all lanes were reopened, according to the CHP.
