Villaraigosa Gives LA a Video Pep Talk

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa released a video expressing enthusiasm for a proposed Los Angeles football stadium

The Super Bowl may be over, but Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa continued the football frenzy Monday.

The mayor's office released a video on YouTube featuring Los Angeles firemen, schoolchildren, college students and a host of other residents, including the mayor himself, expressing their enthusiasm for a Los Angeles NFL team.

In the video, the mayor references the proposed Los Angeles stadium that the Anshutz Entertainment Group wants to build using private funds.

"This project will be 100% privately funded, but not by me. Who do you think I am? Mayor Bloomberg?" Villaraigosa jokes in the video, alluding to New York City's billionaire mayor.

City officials have yet to evaluate and approve the plan, according to the Los Angeles Times.

A spokeswoman for the mayor told the Times the video was created by the mayor's new media aide and interns.
