Weekend: Museums Free-for-All Day

So many incredible institutions, so little (read: none) admission to pay.

Museums Free-for-All Day: Saturday, Feb. 2 is looking mighty damp around Southern California, and Sunday, Feb. 3 will be chillsome. What luck, then, that dozens of art and science and culture and everything-cool repositories of awesome knowledge'll be totally free? This annual treat from SoCal Museums covers some majors and some offbeat spots, too. Note that some places are only free on one of the days, and parking might cost at a few locations. Bundle up, then study up, pronto.

Lunar New Year Celebrations: Where to find festive happenings that are all about greeting the Year of the Boar in a big and joyful manner? There are plenty of to-dos, including a free Lunar New Year event on Feb. 2 at Santa Monica Place (update: this has been rescheduled to Feb. 16), the chance to make pig masks at USC Pacific Asia Museum on Feb. 3, "Kung Fu Panda" fun at Universal Studios Hollywood (Feb. 2 through 18), and "Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession" at Disneyland California Adventure (through Feb. 17). And at the Citadel Outlets? That mega red envelope giveaway continues.

Smorgasburg Dumpling Day at Santa Anita Park: How many dumplings can you do in one gastronomic go? One? Two? Seven, maybe eight, depending on whether you had dumplings for breakfast? (If you did have dumplings for breakfast, you probably want more.) Sate your pillow-y, hearty-of-filling longings in Arcadia, and cheer on the ponies, too, on Saturday, Feb. 2. There are a couple of packages/tickets to choose from, and craft beer, plus horse-racing action, are also part of the jam.

Super Bowl Sweets + Savings: You'll be on your couch, a bar stool, or maybe in Atlanta on Sunday, Feb. 3, but how to show your Rams-based support in the days leading up to football's biggest showdown? There are lots of Rams-themed cookies and doughnuts, don up in yellow and blue, around town, if you want to stock up for your viewing party. Also? If you wear your Rams gear to the LA Zoo, through Feb. 3, you'll save four bucks (and kids in Rams wearables save three).

LA Cookie Con: Speaking of sweets, and we mean lots and lots of sugar-sparkly, frosting-topped, toothsome-to-the-max goodies, there is this mondo convention of dessertful proportions to ponder. It's baking at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, Feb. 2 and Sunday, Feb. 3, with special Disney sights (like a "Four Realms" dessert) and the "Sweet Genius" competition. Are you completely enthralled by shows devoted to fanciful sweets? This is your scene. Tickets are available now.
