Man, 74, Accused of Being Sheriff's Oldest Tagging Suspect

We've all wondered, "Who is John Scott?" Now deputies know the answer.

Who is John Scott?

According to his website, Scott is a world traveler, entrepreneur, producer, mystery, and an ordinary man.

Now he can add a new moniker to that impressive list: Suspect.

Scott, 74, is being called the oldest alleged tagger Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have ever arrested.

The previous record was set by a 36-year-old, Lt. Eric Ruble told the Los Angeles Times:

Ruble said Scott was caught with stickers in his pockets as well as a black brief case, which appears to be similar to a case that is pictured on the whoisjohnscott.com website.

Investigators said they were not sure how long Scott had been vandalizing buses or the particulars of his life story. But Ruble said deputies believe Scott was driven to tag by the same motivation as his younger cohorts: "fame and notoriety."

"It just goes to show, the graffiti culture in Los Angeles is not age-specific and is very diverse," Ruble said.

Scott was arrested at the downtown 7th and Metro Center subway station in Los Angeles.

Scott runs a website that sells "Who is John Scott?" merchandise. Perhaps now, he'll start selling "Free John Scott" merch.
