Window Washers May Want to Change Jobs

A problem developed with a platform on which they were working

Two window washers may be considering new careers after they were rescued Friday from the side of a high-rise building in Long Beach. A problem developed with a platform on which they were working causing it to lean at a severe angle, authorities said.

Firefighters went to the 300 block of Oceangate about 8:25 a.m., said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department

It took about 45 minutes to carefully hoist the men to the roof of the building, she said. Ocean Boulevard was closed during the rescue, Pratt said. Both men appeared to be OK, Pratt said.
