The body of a woman was found on the southbound Orange (57) Freeway in Anaheim Wednesday night, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The body was discovered between the carpool and No. 1 lanes near Orangewood Avenue about 8:40 p.m., The Orange County Register reported.
The woman appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and it was believed that the driver remained at the scene, according to The Orange County Register. Authorities said the woman might have been struck by a taxi.
Drivers reported seeing someone walking on the side of the freeway before the body was found but it was unclear whether this was the same person, a dispatcher from the California Highway Patrol said.
All lanes of the southbound Orange (57) Freeway near Orangewood Avenue were closed for an unknown duration during an investigation.
