Workers Endure Blistering Heat and Humidity

Construction workers say they appreciated every cool breeze they could get

Working outside in the Inland Empire this week was a tough assignment. With the blistering heat exacerbated by uncharacteristic humidity, imagine spending your day chipping away at concrete with a jackhammer.

"The last couple of days, it was real humid," construction worker Nick Lopez said. "It's worse because it isn't just a straight heat."

"We do appreciate a cool breeze once in a while," worker John Schroff said.

Construction workers weren't the only ones dealing with the uncomfortable weather that accompanied monsoonal moisture hanging over SoCal.

Julio Sanchez had the task of cranking up a lawnmower at a golf course.

"We have to do the job no matter what, but we probably do it a little slower," Sanchez said.

The humidity surprised Cesar Gonzalez, who drove from Fullerton to Riverside for a temporary job shoveling dirt.

"Just try to stay cool, drink a lot of water," Gonzalez said.
