Man Held on Murder Charge in Case of Body Found on Street

Deputies arrest a man in connection with the discovery of a body in an Orange County neighborhood.

Sheriff's deputies arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of murder in the slaying of a woman whose body was found in an Orange County community early Tuesday, authorities said.

Police were not releasing the suspect's name pending further investigation, but said he is believed to be involved in the death of an unidentified African-American woman whose body was found by a bicyclist near Deodar and Live Oak drives in Yorba Linda (map), officials said.

Details regarding the investigation were not immediately available.

Neighbors heard someone scream about 5 a.m.

From her backyard, one woman said she saw red Capri tights and tennis shoes. Her ankles were twisted, feet off the curb, dangling in the gutter. The victim had long black hair, a thin build and appeared to be young.

Neighbors tried to make sense of the discovery made on a street where homes sit on 1-acre lots with tennis courts and a distinctive pride of ownership.

Authorities wouldn't say if she was killed there or at another location.
