Your Own, Personal Concert With 10,000 Others

If you've never taken the Red Line to Hollywood, Thursday night might be a good time for an underground adventure.

Depeche Mode will perform on Hollywood Boulevard Thursday night, shutting down the famed drag near its intersection with Vine Street from late Thursday night until early Friday morning.

The three-member English band, which rose to prominence in the 1980s, will play on a stage near Argyle Street to promote its latest release, "Sounds of the Universe," and a song or two will be included as part of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show airing Thursday night.

The free show, which is expected to draw about 10,000 people, also is timed to draw attention to the $350 million W Hotel complex being developed nearby. Fans are urged to take to Metro Red Line subway to and from the show.

Depeche Mode, which is on a world tour, is also set to play the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago Aug.7-9.
