A homeless man who was panhandling Thursday afternoon in Pacoima while armed with a machete was taken into custody after officers blasted him with bean bag rounds.
Officers were called about 4:50 p.m. to the 11600 block of Glenoaks Boulevard and confronted the man in a parking lot, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
The man raised the weapon and refused orders to drop it and was then hit with several bean bag rounds, prompting him to get down on the pavement.
Officers then moved in and one kicked the machete away as others took the suspect into custody.
