Man Accused of Boy's ‘Violent' Rape May Have More Victims: Prosecutors

Prosecutors say David Everett Leibowitz also invited other men to sexually assault the boy.

A convicted sex offender accused of sexually assaulting a Murrieta boy may have victimized other juveniles, prompting prosecutors to ask that anyone with information come forward.

David Everett Leibowitz, 40, of Menifee was arrested last week following a joint investigation by the Riverside County District Attorney's Office and the Murrieta Police Department.

Leibowitz is charged with child stealing, forcible sodomy of a minor, possession of child pornography, inducing a child to perform a commercial sex act and multiple other related felonies.

He's being held without bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and is slated to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice on Sept. 5.

According to the D.A.'s office, the investigation revealed that the defendant allegedly met the victim, identified only as a teenager, via a dating website in January 2015.

The D.A.'s office alleged the defendant had the teen come to his residence, where Leibowitz committed "multiple violent sex acts" over an unspecified period of time. It's further alleged that he invited other adult males to engage in similar acts with the victim.

"It is believed that Leibowitz may have contacted and met other possible victims online," according to an agency statement. "The D.A.'s office is asking that anyone who believes they may have information about additional crimes committed by ... David Everett Leibowitz contact our office, or the Murrieta Police Department."

The D.A.'s office can be reached at 951-955-5400. The police department is at 951-304-2677.

According to court records, Leibowitz has prior convictions for lewd acts on a child under 14 years old and theft.
