Man Breaks Into Manhattan Beach Home, Repeatedly Punches Sleeping Woman

The suspect likely entered the home through an unlocked or open window, police said.

Authorities were searching Saturday for a man who broke into a house and repeatedly punched a woman as she lay sleeping in her Manhattan Beach home.

The home intrusion took place about 1:15 a.m. in the 400 block of 29th Street, according to Manhattan Beach police.

The woman was not sexually assaulted during the attack and the attacker fled the home after the assault, police said.

Police say the woman suffered minor injuries to her face and shoulder when the man attacked her.

"It was a frightening scream," neighbor Gunther Toth said.

There is no immediate indication that anything was stolen from the home.

The suspect likely entered the home through an unlocked or open window, police said.

A motive for the attack was unknown and no suspect description was immediately available.

Anyone with information on this suspect was asked to call the Manhattan Beach police at (310) 802-5140.
