Man Dies in Suspected Car-to-Car Shooting, Rollover Crash in South El Monte

The victim is believed to have been shot before crashing on the eastbound 60 Freeway on-ramp at Rosemead Boulevard

A man died in a rollover crash following a suspected car-to-car shooting in South El Monte late Friday.

The victim is believed to have been shot before crashing on the eastbound 60 Freeway on-ramp at Rosemead Boulevard at about 9:55 p.m, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

A 20-year-old man died at the scene of the crash. Another occupant of the vehicle was in a critical condition, according to the California Highway Patrol.

While dectectives were investigating a shooting victim at a nearby hospital, they received information on the rollover crash where two firearms were allegedly found inside the vehicle, according to deputies. 

LASD homicide detectives were investigating the death and the possibility of some type of altercation happening between the occupants of the car and the gunshot victim at the hospital.

The north and southbound Rosemead Boulevard on-ramp to the eastbound 60 freeway, and the eastbound 60 Rosemead Boulevard off-ramp were blocked off for the investigation.
