Man Hit by Metro Expo Line Train, Hospitalized in Critical Condition

A man in his 30s was struck and critically injured by a Metro Expo Line train that was pulling into the Pico Station in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday.

Firefighters sent to the 500 block of West Pico Boulevard shortly before noon used heavy equipment to free the man, who was trapped for a time, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

Authorities were investigating whether the man, who was not identified, intentionally jumped in front of the southbound train, said Rick Jager of Metro. Trains were "single tracked" around the area while an investigation was conducted, Jager said.

Normal service resumed about 1:30 p.m., with some delays expected, according to Metro.
