A man was shot in the head and two others hit when they confronted suspected gang members in Los Angeles early Wednesday, police said.
The shooting happened at around 2:45 a.m in the area of Park View Street and Coronado Street, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.
A white Chevrolet carrying four men stopped, and two of the occupants went to a nearby home. The shooters then approached the vehicle and may have started flashing gang signs.
When the men confronted the suspected gang members, one of the men opened fire. One victim suffered a grazing wound to the forehead, another was shot in the arm, and a third person was shot in the leg.
They ran to a nearby gas station for aid, and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two of the victims were in surgery for non life-threatening injuries, police said.
The shooters fled the scene after the shooting. No arrests have been made so far.
