Man Fatally Shot In Westminster CVS Parking Lot

Witnesses told police they saw a man running from the scene in the 15400 block of Brookhurst Street

A man was shot in the parking lot of a CVS pharmacy in Westminister and later died at a hospital, authorities said Thursday.

Police received a call about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday of an altercation between two men in the parking lot of the store in the 15400 block of Brookhurst Street, according to Cpl. Alan Aoki of the Westminster Police Department.

As officers responded to the scene, police began receiving calls of shots fired, he said.

When officers arrived, they located a man in his 40s with gunshot wounds, said Aoki. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Witnesses told police they saw the shooter running from the scene, Aoki said. Detectives were looking at security video to try to identify the suspect and the circumstances that led to the shooting, he said.

A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately available.

The shooting marked at least the second violent death reported in Westminster in two days.

A body was found early yesterday morning in the trunk of a burned vehicle in the rear parking lot of 6422 Industry Way in Westminster.
