Man Shot Near Bar Less Than Mile Away From LAX

A man was shot early Thursday near a bar less than a mile away from Los Angeles International Airport.

A routine Los Angeles Airport Police patrol heard gunshots at about 2:20 a.m. in Westchester. They found a man suffering from gunshot wounds who was being transported in a vehicle to a hospital, police said.

Details regarding the individual's condition were not immediately available.

Police said several people were detained for question and one person is in custody.

Details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately clear. The bar owner told NBC4 a group of people entered the bar around 1:30 a.m., had a drink and left peacefully around 15 minutes later. 

He said the shooting occurred on a street behind the bar's back parking lot.
