Man's Beating Death Being Investigated as Possible Homicide in Huntington Beach

A man's death in Huntington Beach Tuesday was being investigated as a possible homicide, police said.

Officers found the man, who is believed to be at least 70-years-old, after responding about 5:10 p.m. to a report of unknown trouble and an injured man in the 7800 block of Ellis Avenue, according to Huntington Beach police Officer Angela Bennett.

"When officers arrived on scene, the male was down on the ground and he had injuries that included having blood on his face," Bennett said.

The man was taken to a hospital where he died.

Neighbors said they heard screaming.

"I was just shocked," Evi Mayea, the victim's neighbor, said. "It's just something you don't hear about around here."

No other details were immediately available.
