2 Masked Men Sought in CVS Armed Robbery in Ventura

Police are searching for two masked men who robbed a CVS pharmacy in Ventura and injured two employees early Friday morning.

Officers responded to an armed robbery call at a CVS located in the 5900 block of Telegraph Road around 3:30 a.m., according to the Ventura Police Department.

Police said two men wearing masks entered the store-- one of the suspects was armed with a handgun and the other with a baseball bat.

One of the suspects attacked an employee and threw her down to the ground, causing significant head trauma. The suspects then forced another employee to open the cash registers before fleeing. It is unknown how much money was taken.

Residents say the CVS, which is open 24 hours a day, is a huge convenience, but it comes with a price. "It makes me more leery," Yvonne Sassen said after learning about the violent robbery

An additional employee suffered minor injuries during the robbery and both employees were transported to a hospital where they are listed in stable condition, police said.

Police described one of the robbers as a man in his 20s, about 5-foot-7-inches and 180 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark pants. The second suspect was described as a man between 38 and 40 years old, 5-foot-9-inches and 180 pounds. He was wearing a grey baseball cap, a black sweatshirt and black pants.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
