Metallic Artwork That Adorns The Desert Of Southern California

Mythological dinosaurs and even superheroes that seem to have been frozen in action adorn a desert area, just over 100 miles south of Los Angeles.

Ricardo Breceda produces, exhibits and sells gigantic and impressive metal figures that have made him famous locally, nationally and even internationally. His workshop in San Diego County shows the planned works with his great imagination and expert hands.

It all started 18 years ago, with a birthday gift for his daughter, a green T-Rex that got a lot of attention. Seeing that people got out of their vehicles to take pictures, Breceda dedicated himself to making metal sculptures.

Breceda has his workshop on the side of Highway 79, in the desert near the town of Aguanga. There, more than 400 works continue to attract curious visitors.

The beauty of his works can be seen in the detail of each piece that make up his sculptures, many of them formed by hundreds of laminates welded individually.

One of these works, perhaps the most famous of all is a giant dragon that seems to sprout from the desert sand, in the Borrego Springs area.

His works have not only been acquired by buyers in California and the rest of the country, but have traveled to other parts of the world, such as China and Australia.
